Badr Jafar is a businessman and social entrepreneur from the United Arab Emirates. As a firm believer in the power of cultural diplomacy, Badr has helped launch a number of initiatives in business, music, theatre and film to promote cross-cultural dialogue between the Arab Region and other regions of the World.

 

Badr founded the music and entertainment company Global Gumbo Group (G3) in partnership with legendary music producer Quincy Jones, to launch various multi-media projects and productions across the MENA region. On 11.11.11, G3 launched Tomorrow Bokra, a charity single involving 24 leading Arab artists from 16 nations across the region, and on 17.12.14 the documentary ‘Bokra the Film’ was premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival.

 

As a strong supporter of the arts, Badr is the Founder of the non-profit Middle East Theatre Academy and a member of the Guggenheim Middle Eastern Circle, the Artistic Director’s Circle of The Old Vic Theatre Trust and the Middle East Institute’s International Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Kennedy Center’s Centennial Circle and in 2014, he was awarded the Gold Medal in the Arts by the Kennedy Center International Committee on the Arts for his work to bridge cultures through music and theatre.
